Transportation in Tibet

The roads in Tibet can at times become quite rough and impassable for many vehicles, It can at times become quite rough and impassable for many vehicles, so for this reason we use best Land cruiser 4WDs (Toyota 4500). These vehicles are extremely reliable and will make the journey as comfortable as possible. As for the trekking and climbing there will be a truck for carrying luggage and trek equipments. We’ll drive for several hours, stopping along the way for photographs or places of special interest, before stopping for lunch at around midday. After lunch we continue our journey, generally arriving at our destination by 3 or 4pm.

1. TOYOTA 60 or TOYOTA 62: Safe, four wheel drive, and cheaper but no A/C or a little bit bumpy

This kind of land cruiser is commonly used by tourists if you do not mind its a little uncomfortness. It was manufactured by Japan years ago but very popular in Tibet by those who want to save money but challenge themselves.

2. TOYOTA 80: Safe, four wheel drive, medium price (not cheaper or not expensive), A/C     equipped  a little bit newer than first kind, and comfort. but expensive than first kind. Not that much popular than first due to its price which is  however affordable to common tourists.

3. TOYOTA 4500 ( desert king): Safe, four wheel drive, expensive, A/C  equipped, much more comfort Only those who could spend money on comforts in touring  in Tibet. It is luxury both inside and outside and much more comfort  if driving on the rough roads.

KATHMANDU TO LHASA ROAD
The journey form Kathmandu to Lhasa by road should be viewed as an adventure, not sightseeing tour by bus. The road itself was poorly constricted and is prone to closer by landslides, particularly from June through September. It can be very dusty some kind of face mask is a good idea. As you drove to altitudes of over 17000 feet at some points, altitude sickness becomes a real possibility and most will feel some symptoms. You must make sure to drink plenty of fluids to help you acclimatize. The choice of hotels enroute (expect Lhasa) is extremely limited. Hotels are basic with showers, Flush toilet, a small shop, a restaurant and laundry facilities only. Food is not readily available enroute until the stopover hotels are reached. We recommend you carry packed lunch from the hotels. We suggest you bring a canteen or water bottle with purification tablet or a water filter pump and refill your bottles at every opportunity. Meals enroute (until Lhasa) tend to be greasy and you may want to bring snacks or other foodstuff with you. We therefore suggest you to carry Tinned food, Biscuits, Chocolates, Cheese, Drinking Chocolate / Coffee, Soup cubes, Instant noodles, Vegemite, Nuts and Raisins, Chewing gums etc.
