In the far west of Tibet is Mt Kailash or Kang
Rinpoche, the most sacred mountain in Asia venerated
by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and the ancient
Bon Po religion of Tibet and is considered the
centre of the universe & the most holy place
in the world for both Hindus and Buddhists.
For many centuries Tibetan and Indian pilgrims
have been making the 53km circuit or kora, of
the mountain which supposedly wipes the sins
of a lifetime, enticement enough. This circumambulation
is clockwise for Buddhists and Hindus and anti-clockwise
for bon followers.
